Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles drew the ire of Chicago Bears fans when she showed up to one of the team’s preseason games to support her husband Jonathan Owens wearing a Green Bay Packers jacket.

The 11-time Olympic medalist was roasted on social media by a good portion of the team’s fan base, but Owens has since come to her defense.

In a recent interview with the Bears YouTube channel, Owens admitted that Biles didn’t intentionally wear the jacket as a dig at the Bears but instead did so to honor her husband, who played for the Packers during the 2023 season.

“Her mindset — she’s coming from the Olympics, it’s like quick turnaround, it was a last-second decision that she was going to come to the game so she said, ‘Let me grab this, it has his face all over it,’” Owens said. “It wasn’t like intentional.

“…She’s gotten plenty of new love, people have been reaching out, so it actually worked out.”

The social media backlash Biles experienced after the incident was enough to prompt her to address the issue on social media, stating “the way I be wanting to clap back soooo bad but I gotta stay as classy as possible” on Threads.

The 27-year-old gymnast ensured Bears fans her fashion choices won’t be an issue at future games now that she has beefed up her Bears-themed wardrobe.

“Yes, I have plenty [of Bears gear] now,” Biles told TMZ Sports. “So, don’t you worry, guys.”
