Angelina Jolie, 49, accused Brad Pitt, 61, of abusing her before the 2016 plane altercation that led to the actor filing for divorce.

According to People on April 4, Angelina Jolie’s legal team filed a motion related to the estate lawsuit, accusing Brad Pitt of having a history of abusing her. The representative said Brad Pitt had been physically abusing Jolie since before 2016, the fight on the plane that year marked the first time the actor had abused his children, causing her to decide to end the marriage.

In 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, accusing Brad Pitt of being drunk, violent, and abusing the children. The actor was investigated by the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services for child abuse. Ultimately, the authorities did not prosecute the actor because they found no signs of a crime during the investigation.

Jolie’s side has presented new documents to prove that Brad Pitt once asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement if he wanted to buy back her stake in the winery. Jolie’s representatives said the actor was concerned that sealed documents she provided in the custody battle could be leaked without a binding document.

“Jolie’s sealed documents include emails, summaries of family members’ statements and other evidence. Brad Pitt fears the information will become public.” The lawyer said Pitt wanted to force his ex-wife to stay silent about his “misconduct” whether it was related to the vineyard or not.

“By refusing to buy shares but suing his ex-wife, Pitt directly raises the issue of why the confidentiality agreement is important to him and what Pitt wants to bury is domestic violence. After eight months of delay, this motion asks the court to compel Pitt to hand over relevant evidence,” said Paul Murphy, Angelina Jolie’s lawyer, on April 4.

Another source told People that Angelina Jolie did not want to speak out about her previous abuse. She is now doing so to protect herself from her ex-husband’s accusations.

A source close to Brad Pitt, who has experience working in litigation to refute Jolie’s allegations, commented that her move is typical of individuals who face an unfavorable ruling. “At that time, they will continuously provide false, inaccurate or irrelevant information to distract,” this person told People .

The dispute over the estate began in mid-2016, when Jolie wanted to sell Château Miraval to move to England to pursue political activities, but was opposed by Brad Pitt. The couple had rented the estate in France in 2008 before buying the property in 2011. Initially, Brad Pitt owned 60% of the shares, Angelina Jolie held 40%. After getting married, the actor transferred 10% to his wife as a wedding gift, equalizing the ownership ratio of both properties.

After the divorce, Angelina Jolie is said to have secretly sold her shares to a Russian partner. Brad Pitt believes that Angelina does not have legal status because she still holds 60% ownership. The actor said that the agreement to transfer 10% to his ex-wife in 2014 was not official, so he wanted to get back the assets and maintain control. The Luxembourg court accepted this view and ruled that Brad Pitt could keep 60% of the shares for a year or more until the lawsuit was completely over.

In February, a Luxembourg court (Belgium) declared Brad Pitt won the final round of the trial in the case accusing Angelina Jolie of arbitrarily selling shares of the Château Miraval vineyard to Yuri Shefler – the owner of a giant wine company in Russia. According to the Daily Mail on March 13, Angelina Jolie moved to overturn the preliminary verdict after losing the lawsuit.
