George Russell and Lewis Hamilton joined thousands of fans at Silverstone to cheer on England to a penalty shootout win over Switzerland on Saturday night.
The Mercedes pair had earlier enjoyed a dream qualifying at the British Grand Prix as they locked out the front row for Sunday’s race, with Russell taking pole position and Hamilton right behind him.
And they stayed behind afterwards to watch England’s Euro 2024 quarter-final on the big screen, with Russell donning a Three Lions home shirt.
It seemed the evening was set to end in disappointment when Switzerland went behind in the 75th minute to a close-range strike from Breel Embolo.
But Bukayo Saka fired home an equaliser five minutes later to take the game to penalties.

England’s players kept their nerve with Russell and Hamilton watching on as Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney and Trent Alexander-Arnold all converted their spot-kicks.
Jordan Pickford also proved he’s the man for the big occasion by keeping out Manuel Akanji’s penalty to seal a 5-3 win for England.

Russell and Hamilton were both seen applauding England’s heroes, with the seven-time world champion also punching the air in delight.
They then posed for a selfie in front of the fans after England booked their spot in the semi-finals.
The Three Lions will now take on the Netherlands on Wednesday for a place in the final, and they are just two games away from glory.
But first, Russell and Hamilton will turn their attention to Sunday’s Grand Prix in a bid to cap off a golden weekend for English sport.
Russell won last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix after a late crash between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, and will fancy his chances of making it two victories on the trot.
He can expect to be pushed hard by Hamilton, though, who will be looking for his first race win since 2021.
